The annual weekend where we all gather around the luscious array of snacks and beer with the most expensive commercials playing in the background. Oh yeah – and the game between the New England Patriots and Atlanta Falcons. Super Bowl LI (that’s 51 to the layperson) kicks off Sunday, February 5 at 6:30pm ET on FOX. And this year FOX has made it super easy to watch Super Bowl 2017 free online without cable.
Here’s how to watch Super Bowl 51 free.
FOX Sports Go App: The best way to watch Super Bowl 2017 free online
Hands down the easiest way to watch the game in your living room. Typically, you need cable login credentials to even look at the FOX Sports Go app, but FOX is removing authentication for the game. That’s right, you don’t need a cable login to watch the Super Bowl on the FOX Sports Go app. Available on most streaming devices (i.e. Roku, Chromecast, Apple TV, FireTV, Xbox), you only need to search for and download the app. Then you’re good to go.
You can also download the FOX Sports Go app on you laptop and phone, but you will need to be on your home wifi. If you are on cellular data, you will need to access the game directly from Verizon.
In select markets you can stream the game live from Houston with the Sling TV Blue package. There are a limited number of locations that the local FOX network is available. These are typically larger cities. If you’re in one of these locations, you’re in luck and can stream the game directly through your Sling TV subscription. No other downloads needed.
Depending on your proximity to your local FOX broadcast station, the digital antenna is a great option. With a $30 antenna, you can watch the Super Bowl (and a lot of other TV) on your local FOX station in HD for free.
If you’re relying on this option for the game but don’t have a digital antenna, definitely run to Best Buy or do a 2-hour Amazon order and experiment with it. For some people, digital antenna’s work great. For others, not so much.
