We’re big on going behind the scenes and learning about the people behind things we hear, see, and touch. Noisey, a Viceland original show, does just that. It gives us an exclusive look at the people and the struggle behind the most popular music scenes in the world.

Like a lot of the other Viceland shows, Noisey nails it with an interesting subject matter and that raw, unfiltered delivery that is characteristic of Viceland. The show launched its first season in 2016 and is two episodes into its second season. The second season with return host, Zach Goldbaum, brings 6 hour-long documentaries digging into the music culture in Atlanta, Bay Area, Paris, Seoul, Nashville, and Lagos.

Watch Zach Galifianakis in Baskets: Season Premiere

We love Zach Galifianakis. There can never be enough Zach G in the world. So it’ll be rad to watch Zach Galifianakis in Baskets Season 2 and watch what little nuggets he will bring when the FX show premieres tonight.

The dark comedy that flew under the radar in Season 1 brings you the laughs but actually dives and wrestles with issues in a deeper way than most shows that make the attempt. LA Times buys into Basket‘s outstanding job of working through darker themes of “self-loathing, adult-life crisis and sick relationships better than much more hyped series such as ‘Animals,’ ‘Love’ and ‘Girls’.”

Save Baskets to your favorites on the StreamSavvy mobile app so you never miss another episode.

Chip Baskets (Zach Galifianakis) attempts to chase his dream and become a French clown. Failing out of a prestigious clown college and hitting broke, Baskets moves back home to Bakersfield. He gets an ice bucket challenge to the face when his only opportunity is a rodeo clown and he is forced to deal with the reality of family and dreams slipping away. (FX 10/9c)

How to watch: you can stream the FX channel tonight and watch Zach Galifianakis in Baskets in the season premiere on Sling TV with the Blue package or with Playstation Vue (all tiers).

Watch Schitt's Creek online

Season Two Premiere: Schitt’s Creek

The Canadians are just so nice. Nice enough to bless the world with Schitt’s Creek, a sitcom that aired for the first time in 2015 on Canadian television. It’s been picked up by POP in the US, and Season 2 kicks off tonight.

If you’re not all up in Canadian television, the show follows Johnny Rose (Eugene Levy), a wealthy dude who made his cash in a video store empire, and his wife Moira (Catherine O’Hara), a “has been” soap opera star. After the pair lose all their money to stupid investments, like video stores, they are forced to rebuild their lives in their only remaining asset. The asset is the blink-and-you’ll-miss-it town of Schitt’s Creek, Ontario, that the Rose pair purchased as a gag gift for the birthday of one of their children. The plot gets even better since they are forced to live together with their stereotypical, entitled 20-something kids in two adjacent rooms of a rundown motel. Maple syrup, hockey, niceness, and now Season 2 of Schitt’s Creek. Thanks Canada. (POP 8/7c)

How to watch: you can stream Schitt’s Creek tonight on POP through any of the Playstation Vue tiers.

Stream Taboo from FX

Stream Taboo from FX

We’re pretty big Peaky Blinders fans. Like really big. And the guys who collaborated on Peaky, Steven Knight with Tom Hardy, have come together for Taboo. Taboo is the newest series to hit FX, and the show kicks off tonight with its first episode. Stream Taboo from FX tonight.

StreamSavvy Guide: What to watch January 9, 2017

StreamSavvy’s daily guide for the best TV from January 9, 2017. Watch the College Football Championship without cable tonight or stream the Crown. Here’s the post with what to watch, why you should check it out, and how to stream it.

The Hollywood Foreign Press made it pretty clear last night. The show to watch from 2016 is The Crown. The Netflix original took the Best Television Series Drama, and Claire Foy took the best actress award in the Best Performance by an Actress in a Drama Television Series….and then there’s a little football game tonight. There you  have it.

Binge The Crown

Golden Globe Winner: The Crown

The $100 million bet from Netflix. The Crown is a period drama and is Netflix’s attempt to capitalize on the popularity of shows like Downton Abbey and to a lesser extent Peaky Blinders.

The first season, released in November 2016, is the story of the beginning of Queen Elizabeth II’s reign of the United Kingdom. The Crown follows gives us an inside look at Queen Elizabeth II starting just before her wedding in 1947. The plan is for six seasons that will bring the story right up to the present day.

The average person spends 4 YEARS of their lives searching for something to watch. Really. Take your life back and download the StreamSavvy mobile app FREE right now.

Here’s the bottom line on The Crown. If you’re looking for an exciting, heart pounding drama with tons of violence, sex, and messiness, this is NOT the show for you. If you want to see Claire Foy, the actress who plays Queen Elizabeth, kill it by pulling you into the struggle between being a queen and being a young woman all with crazy good cinematography, then this is a great watch. (Netflix)

How to watch: you can watch online, on your mobile device, on your smart TV, or on your streaming device through the Netflix app. If you don’t have it, or aren’t using your parents’ / sister’s / neighbor’s login, you can sign up for a free trial then roll into a $9.99 per month subscription if you like it.

Watch the College Football Championship without Cable

It’s starts with the first whistle kicking off two-a-days in August. Half a year later, two teams have stood the test of time and go head-to-head. As the Clemson Tigers take on the Alabama Crimson Tide tonight for the title of National Champion, we’re all wondering if anyone can beat that insane Alabama defense.

The answer is yes. The winning formula is a super talented D-line and Deshaun Watson. Watson tore up the Ohio State Buckeyes in the semifinal game while the defense shut out the Buckeyes in a bowl game for the first time in almost 100 years. If any team can take down Alabama tonight, it’s the Clemson Tigers. (ESPN 8/7c)

StreamSavvy’s guide for the best tv, what to watch, and how to stream it December 28, 2016, including the PBS special, Frontline: Exodus, and the Russell Athletic Bowl streaming live on ESPN.

We normally stick to TV shows, but since it’s the holidays and Netflix actually got a pretty big movie, we’re going to sneak that in today with a special from PBS for your daily best in TV.

Inside the European Refugee Crisis, Frontline: Exodus

Thousands of refugees and migrants fleeing war, persecution and hardship risk everything for a better life in a European country every year. Only the blessed few actually escape their home countries and travel safely across the Mediterranean in anything but seaworthy, makeshift boats. Over the last two years, more than 1.3 million people have arrived in Europe after crossing the Mediterranean. Nearly 9,000 have died or gone missing along the way.

Frontline: Exodus, a PBS special, gives you never-before-seen access to the struggles of the refugee journey. Director James Bluemel combines his footage with video filmed by refugees and migrants themselves throughout the 2-hour special.

Frontline: Exodus aired for the first time last but is available today for streaming online. (PBS)

How to watch: you can watch right now online through the PBS website or your can stream it through the PBS app which is free.

New to Netflix, Captain America: Civil War

For all you Marvel fans out there. Or you not-so-Marvel fans that wanted to wait until you didn’t have to pay $20 to see it at the theater. Captain America: Civil War hit Netflix this week. For real – Netflix got a decently big movie, and we’re pumped to watch it tonight.

The film was released in theaters in May and is the long-awaited sequel to the 2011 Captain America: First Avenger film. The plot centers on the increasing political pressure for accountability for the actions of the Avengers when they lead to collateral damage. Captain America (Chris Evans) believes superheroes should remain free to defend humanity without government interference. Iron Man (Robert Downey Jr.) vehemently disagree and sides with the government accountability. With these two superheroes digging in on opposite sides, Black Widow (Scarlett Johansson) and Hawkeye (Jeremy Renner) have to decide where they stand in an escalating battle.

Bowl Game of the Day: WVU vs. Miami

As the team clash in Orlando, the story of a West Virginia program having its best season in almost a decade continues to unfold. On the other side of the field is a Miami team that carries a long tradition of winning but continues to look for its identity in the latest chapter of college football. (ESPN 5:30/4:30c)
